Introduction

From February 24 – March 07, 2009 I spent again 12 days in  Andalucía  in Southern Spain. I visited several well known places in the provinces of Málaga, Cádiz, Sevilla, and Huelva for birdwatching.

Itinerary
February 24, 2009: Flight with EasyJet from Berlin-Schönefeld to Málaga. Arrival at 13.00. Take-over of the prepaid rented car from malagacar.com. Drive to the Tryp Hotel in Guadalmar. From 15.30 to 19.00 birdwatching in the Nature Reserve Desembocadura del Guadalhorce at the Atlantic coast west of Málaga.

6, 2009: Drive on the highways A-7 and AP-7 to Algeciras and on the road N-340 to the Mirador del Estrecho de Gibraltar near Tarifa. Due to strong winds bird migration could not be observed. The same was true for Bolonia, La Janda, the Quarry of Montenmedio and the Lighthouse of Trafalgar. Drive via N-340, A-48, and A-480 to Sanlucar de Barrameda. Accomodation for the next 5 nights in the Hotel Macia Doñana, the former Hotel Partner Doñana. In the late afternoon birdwatching in the Salinas de Bonanza.

Registration of the observations
All ornithological observations were registered in the databank OrniDB97–2.20, developed by Ralf Schirmeister (www.ralf-schirmeister.de for download) and were edited in two different ways. Under the heading "Excursions" one finds the complete records to the different observation places in chronological order. Under the heading "Species List" one finds the date, the place, and the number of observed individuals in systematic order. In the section Excursions some photos give an impression of the visited areas, in the Species List one finds some photos of birds taken by a Canon EOS 1D Mark III in combination with a telephoto lens Canon EF 600 mm, f/4L IS USM and the Extender EF 2x II.
